RULES
In order to provide a safe environment that is conducive to learning, I expect students to be respectful of their classmates and me, and to follow class and school rules. The consequences for breaking these rules will be uniformly applied according to the school’s discipline policy. Appropriate behavior will be encouraged, appreciated, and rewarded accordingly.
- You should be in the classroom and in your seat when the bell rings. Coasting in even a couple of seconds after the bell rings constitutes a tardy and will be marked in the online attendance unless you have a valid school pass.
- When the bell rings to begin class, you should quietly begin working on the bellwork.
- Please have all of your materials with you in class. I will not provide passes to lockers for students who forgot their books or homework.
- Absolutely, positively NO CELL PHONES! All cell phones should be turned off in class. Texting is incredibly distracting and one of my biggest pet peeves. If I see it, you WILL receive a detention. If it becomes a problem, I'll talk to your parents. The same goes for mp3 players.
A reminder that failure to serve your original detentions could ultimately result in the removal of privileges!!!

Homework
You must have your homework completed and ready to turn in on the day it is due. There is no late work allowed in my college prep courses. In my ELD courses, because we are working towards mastery of the ELD standards, revisions are allowable. Homework will be the basis of the next class lesson and discussion, so it is integral to your success in this course. If there is an extenuating circumstance or family emergency that prevents you from completing your homework, please let me know by sending me an email.
Attendance
It is your responsibility to initiate make-up work, not mine. You will have an extra day per absence to complete missed assignments, as long as it is an excused absence. Make up work will not be allowed for unexcused absences. Also, the excused absence policy does not apply to projects/essays. Those are assigned with a due date well in advance and must be turned in and/or dropped off the day they are due. If you are going to be absent for more than three consecutive days, please call the office to make arrangements and pick up missed work.
Also, when returning after an absence, please visit the attendance office FIRST and request your READMIT SLIP. You MUST bring this to class with you.
